“The Book of Lies”: Reform CA’s Carl DeMaio Suggests Title for Newsom’s Third Book

Today, Reform California Chairman Carl DeMaio issued the following statement on the announcement that Gov. Gavin Newsom plans to release his THIRD book soon:

“Gavin Newsom just announced he’s working on writing his third book, but does anyone really think Newsom actually wrote his first two books himself? As Gavin Newsom’s ghost writer begins writing his third book, I have to wonder if they get paid by the word - or paid by the lie.

ACCORDING TO DEMAIO, GAVIN NEWSOM’S TOP 5 LIES LATELY ARE:

1. People are not fleeing California: Gavin Newsom has said that more people are moving from states like Florida to California than are moving from California to Florida. However, according to the Census data from 2022, the net shift to Florida was 22,144. The actual truth is that over 3.6 million people have fled California since Newsom took office.

2. Newsom supports a secure border: Newsom laughably proclaimed himself to be “in favor of border security” when in fact he has denigrated border patrol agents as racists, supported numerous changes in policies to take away their ability to do their jobs, supported a Sanctuary State law to ban any cooperation between law enforcement and ICE/border patrol agents, and has continued to increase welfare payments to illegal immigrants to incentivize them to come to the US illegally.

3. California protects parental rights: While Gavin Newsom says he supports parental rights, he has has attacked parental rights by labeling parents as "extremists," "anti-LGBT," and "racists." He has also threatened millions in illegal fines against a school district for creating a process to allow parental input on controversial curriculum.

4. California is a safe state with no crime problems: Newsom has claimed that California is safe and that crime is higher elsewhere, but FBI data shows California’s crime rate is double that of Florida and exponentially higher per-capita than the US as a whole. Newsom knows that national crime data shows a slight downward trend while California crime data shows a spike in both retail/property crimes as well as violent crimes ranging from assault, rape, and murder. The truth about crime statistics in California is that the crime rate is consistently spiking and went up in 2022 by a staggering 13%.

5. California’s homeless crisis is due to not enough homes and funding: Gavin Newsom says the homeless crisis is caused by not enough homes and he supports the “Housing First” approach. But according to a study by the American Journal of Community Psychology, 75% of chronically homeless individuals have substance abuse or severe mental illness — which keeps them in a cycle of homelessness. Housing First has been proven to be ineffective in treating or improving substance abuse and mental health issues among the chronically homeless — and Newsom prohibits social service organizations from requiring drug tests or setting behavioral rules in exchange for housing assistance.
