After a long and bruising election season, the 2024 election is over and Americans shocked the establishment with a massive national red wave. Donald Trump secured a second term as president and is leading in the popular vote, and national Republicans flipped control of the U.S. Senate and are on track to win a slender majority in the House.
Part of this national red wave manifested in California — where Republicans are showing surprising strength!
There are likely to be 4-6 million more votes left to count in California and it will take days if not weeks before winners in all contests can be called. However, based on the initial vote tallies it is clear that California Republicans out-performed in the 2024 election.
Carl DeMaio, chairman of Reform California and Assemblyman-Elect for the 75th district, says that the results are an encouraging shift.
“California Republicans did surprisingly well in target seats in 2024 — voters issued a stunning rejection of the current broken political system,” said DeMaio.
President/Senate:
In a significant shift in voting patterns, Donald Trump captured 40% of the vote so far – up 6 points from 2020. California will be the deciding factor in giving Trump the popular vote. Steve Garvey is currently at an impressive 43% of the vote – another key shift.
US House Majority:
California will be the deciding factor in handing the Republicans the control of the US House again – with a few races too close to call still that will determine how big of a majority we will have! These races remain tight:
STATEWIDE BALLOT MEASURES
State Legislature: In the state legislature, 8 races are still too close to call but we may pick seats in both chambers depending on how mail in ballots go. We needed to do well to position ourselves for breaking the Super-Majority in 2026.
DeMaio Wins Big vs State Legislature: Voters in the 75th Assembly District issued a landslide victory for Carl DeMaio and the Reform California movement with 60% of the vote!
“I’m so grateful to the voters in the 75th Assembly District for giving me a landslide victory with 60% of the vote!” said DeMaio.
“The Sacramento Swamp spent over $3.5 million against me, but the voters have given me a mandate to take our entire Reform California movement “inside the belly of the beast” and create a caucus of true principled fighters — I can’t wait to get to work!” he continued.
As noted, it will take days if not weeks for California to complete its count of all the votes – a deficiency that reflects the absurd election rules the Democrats have imposed statewide. However, if the Election Day voting trends continue, California Republicans will have reason to cheer – and continue their fight to restore political balance in the deep-blue state.
And Reform California aims to lead that fight with a number of key campaigns after DeMaio is sworn into office in December.
